In the past years, my addiction has constantly been my greatest setback. I have dropped from a well grounded believer and person to an impractical one. Although trusting God has been my most hope to get this over with, but, I need to work it out (Faith without works).

Addicts' Corner is a podcast for addicts or addiction counsellors. It's basically a community created for Addicts. 

We consider addiction a big deal and how hard it is for people.

So, don't be ashamed if you're an addict to something or anything. You and me will end this charade with God's help.

When Portiphar's wife went to meet Joseph and he fled, don't think he did not admire her o. Ah! Yes, that part was summarized. Do you know how many signals and thoughts that would have fellowshipped with him. However, he fled. He fled because he knew better. Knowledge gives you wisdom, sight and understanding to flee. To run fast from thoughts. By running you combat them and send them packing. Thoughts fly from the songs we sing, from the conversations we have, from the selfish prayers we pray, and atmosphere we expose are hearts to. Life and peace would only rest for a person whose heart is stayed on God. The question is what is life and peace to you. While many think life and peace has more to do with abundance and prosperity, without disputing that things matter, however, they are not Life and Peace. Check you heart and what you think about. And how those thoughts have transcend into negative actions toward friends, family, and colleagues. As a man thinks, so he is. Our thoughts is a state. A state that defines and orchestrates the functionality of other states.

Like Joyce Meyer once said, you can't serve God without courage. Lol. It's funny how she puts it: "If you want to go through with God, you better have some GUTS. You need to have courage, be determined and not be a Whipping, Whinny, White-Washed Christian" - 1Timothy 6:11. I'd like to call it the 3Ws Christian. ✌️

Let me draw our attention to Proverbs 7:11. I anticipate a bit backlash, you know. 

Why? Personality questions might rise or the so called Zodiac Signs personality attribute questions might ensue. The Introverts, Extroverts and Ambiverts. The Sanguine, Choleric, Phlegmatic and Melancholic talk. Yeah yeah. I get it. Just because Science says you at this doesn't mean you cannot outgrow that identity.

The bible said the woman was loud, boisterous and clamorous in contrast to the nature of the person led and built by God's word in the preceding verses. 

Notice that the preceding verses did not describe the person as calm, slow, cool, poise,or collected but definitely a person that lives according to scriptures written on the tablets of his/her heart. 

Verse 11, however, describes an individual carried away by exuberance and youthful flare. A person desired to eat till it's finished and done with. Someone willing to gather all and fly high😅. Oya let me calm down bah. Essentially, it describes who we are these days in our journey to exposure - Young Generation and The New Testament Religion Family. Oga! Unsurprisingly, we have lost composure. 

Okay enough gist. This week's episode is to beckon our hearts to quantify our exposure and know where or what to seek in due season.

The culture of unlearning

It is usually said that compared to learning, unlearning is most strenuous. Of course, one would have to abandon or relinquish the learned and fill the vacuum by learning something that contradicts. When the bible talked about renewal of the mind, one would immediately assume the change of our minds; the transformation of our thoughts or the transition of character as being easy. However, one step into the process of walking away from the old and having to abandon previous acts or habits seem rigorous to bare. Nobody said unlearning is easy but I've always heard that it's intentional. First, you start with unlearning little things like how you do something minor or irrelevant. Then gradually transcend to being that individual that's unlearning seamlessly. On this week's episode, we talked extensively about unlearning and the things we do in the dark. "However, not everyone has this knowledge. In fact, some have been so used to idolatry up until now that when they eat food offered to an idol, their conscience, being weak, is defiled".
What is idolatry?
The Oxford English dictionary defines the word as an excessive admiration of somebody or something. It also calls it the worship of idols. When we mention the word idols, our first thoughts go to hand made gods people bow down to but the world has evolved. People hardly make hand made wooden idols and bow down. As such, idols have become more inherent in the minds of men. Idols have become money, fame, popularity, power, influence, ambition, and lust. Idols have become more than craved wooden images that can easily be broken to engraved artifacts scripted into the hearts of mankind to deter his relationship with God. These newly formed idols are obviously not physically, hence, dropping them to worship another would require a higher authority. Since the birth of every man, the bible says we have been born with iniquity. Therefore, these idols are somewhat mixed with the nature of the old man until we are regenerated into the new man. Apparently, like any habit, these idols which have been accorded the honour of being a necessity, have been difficult to let go of. So, with these idols inherent in man, prevailing changes in the world are easily accepted. The abnormal becomes the normal and of course the wise becomes the foolish. Hmmmm.
It is time to submit to God for the cleansing of our minds -Romans 12:1-2. It is time to STICK TO WHO GOD IS without waiver. It is time to build up our most holy faith beyond the physical because when it is time for these idols to revolt much higher, not even our strength can stand. Hence, our beckoning when it comes to seeking God should be to be changed. Transformed. Revived. Built. Ignited. That way we can stand the test of time when all the normals have become abnormal and the abnormals have become normal. Our clamour when we seek God should be to help us love relentless, learn the fruits of the Spirit, to be meek and lowly, and hate iniquity. On this week's episode, we talked about STICKING TO WHO GOD IS. It takes knowing God to stick to who he is. So it's a journey to knowing God. I trust that God will help us.

What happens when I choose to stay different?

Last year, a very dear friend of mine started a journey to recovering from low self esteem and insecurity. She started by reading, enrolling for mentorship and praying tirelessly to grow. Then she grew to starting a community, ran a writing challenge and making audio works to express how she felt. So far, she has grown so much that I am highly impressed and privileged to be called her friend. Recently, she told about an event she was called to feature to help others. She struggled though and I told her that since she did it before, she could do it again. She chose to do it and I am very grateful that she @tolu has grown. For the record, I love you Tolu. Well, since she never showed any traces of someone with a low self esteem, when she told me I was very surprised. Amazingly, she said for several years she rejected it by saying she had high esteem until she began to notice the emotions rising from time to time. Then she told herself that it was time to let go of it. And by letting go, the first thing she did was to say to herself that Tolu you have low self esteem and you're insecure. Now, she transitioned successfully because she accepted that fact and became the Tolu that is growing from low esteem, helping others and advancing in her career. I admire her courage so much because it takes a lot to abandon a personality you painted for yourself to really embrace who you are and transition to a better version. When you accept and acknowledge Who You Are, transitioning to a better person becomes a minor thing. We struggle during transition because we never passed stage one of accepting and acknowledging the loopholes. This week's episode is about doing you and sticking to it. Jesus loves us and our identity in me is more than we can ever imagine. So far, it is the best life yet.

So quick gist! Recently, I began to think about many things and one of the things I thought was "why can't I live my life the way I want to?"

Yeah! I thought about that. So I'm talking enjoyment. Pleasure, money, fame and lust. 

I mean, why can't I just go to the club, groove my night out with a great bottle of wine. 

Why can't I sleep my way to the top?

Like seriously, why can't I just have sex, watch porn, masturbate or even sleep with a fellow girl. Like why?

People do it? And they say it's okay to do it.

I thought about these things so much and said why can't I just live my life and travel to Canada sef? Really, why? Why must my will be His Will?

And I said, What is my life? Who am I? 

So I said my life has been crucified. The life I live is not mine but Christ that lives me. I am determined to work into the reality of this Life. Sometimes, we look foolish, stupid in fact. Everyone says do it this way and we say no, God will have me do it this way. 

And you're like how come I believe in something I can't see? And a voice whispers and says, you believe with your heart.🤦

The life I live now is not my life. He have his have his life me, so I'll give my life for him.

Gosh I don't understand anymore. I tired and blurted in my head. 

Then I finalized thoughts and said, GOD NEVER WASTES ANYTHING. NOT EVEN THE BAD THINGS.

Forgiving You

Have you ever wondered why it's so hard to cope with your present life? Have you wondered why depression and anxiety always sets in each time you think about your present life? Have you ever asked yourself if it's because you made a mistake and can't forgive yourself for it?

Let's take for example, you graduated with a lower class and have not gotten a job in the last six months after service year. You're bewildered and live in the anger and hatred of how you did not make better choices. 

You start comparing yourself with those who did and dislike the mistakes you made.

Your heart pounds everytime. You feel there's already a full stop to your life..

Oh gosh...the weirdest thing is you probably just started life. We just allow chains and bondages playing out in our minds to steal our freedom.

You start living in the world of I wish I made better choices instead of melting the distractions to make better steps.

On today's episode, we talked about Forgiving You. Giving yourself a chance to embrace those failures and use it for your good.

So what if you wasted 3yrs in the rehab and your so-called mates have gone ahead. Pick the pieces of your life and trust your journey.

Anything you can't change, leave it alone and forgive yourself for these mistakes.

Welcome to this week's episode. How was your week? Yep! I missed you big. I hope you learnt from last week's episode. Please be blessed and grow - very important. Okay!!! On this week's episode, we dwelled on obedience. A literal obedience of God's word and it's benefits. It takes a lot to handle obedience. Trust me, it's almost like rocket science. But, I would like you to listen heartily and learn how to be obedient when it sounds foolish.

Conditioning Our Hearts

Proverbs 4:23 says that we guard our heart with all diligence for out of it flows the issue of life. Hmmm. You the amazing thing about this scripture is that it reminds us that we are in control of that aspect of our lives. "Guard Your Heart". This implies that you are responsible for what comes and goes out of your heart. You are responsible for what feeling you want to have from your heart. Nobody not even the Supreme God will guard your heart for you. Lol. You know I just thought to reinstate this. Hence, when we guard our hearts which has the capacity to determine the issue of life, we create our own realities and predetermine our actions. A healthy heart filled with love and peace gives love and peace. A bitter heart filled with hate and envy gives hate and envy. At this point, I'd like to state that addiction is an action and can be reversed with a proper conditioning of our hearts. Without this unplugging of ill consumption related to addiction, we will continue to spring forth that which dwells in our hearts. So today, forgive that man that raped you and stop being a sex addict. Today, relinquish that curiosity to press into the supposed mystery of sex and stop being a porn addict. Today, cast your cares on God and stop trying to help yourself with alcohol. Today, build your confidence because great is him that lives in you than he that is in the world and stop taking drugs for self confidence. You deserve more. You deserve better. Rest on a higher substance than unhealthy ones.

Ever Learning

You know when Season 4 started, I prayed and wondered why I was still running the podcast when I'm fine now. I was almost at the verge ending the podcast. 

Then it occured to days later that the podcast is just for addicts. Addiction is just taking a substance or running a particular continually. it is more of an inner character covered by flesh (body) that needs to be unveiled. 

So I started Season 4 forgetting that our 1st Anniversary was today. The first episode was huge. I learnt so much. The second came and every single episode in Season has been for the transformation of our minds. It's mind blowing really.

I'm happy we have moved. We have moved from just letting go of addiction to becoming better persons in character and conviction. 

Life has been great. Life has been fruitful.

So as we celebrate the merriment of today being our 1st ever anniversary, we talked about something I never thought within two minutes of recording that I would talking about. It came like an outburst. 

Not coming ourselves with ignorance.

Stop Lying to Yourself: Light vs Darkness - Reach for Your Light

Hmm...If there's anything we conveniently lie to ourselves about, it's lying that we are fine. Even when we know we are so messed up. We know genuinely that we are filled with bittersweet emotions about who we really are and who we are trying to accept ourselves to be. It's either we are ashamed of it to please other people or we are refusing to let ourselves see what good person lives inside of us. While others feel letting that good part flourish will make them seem boring, others feel letting that good part means actually lying to themselves that they are good. So we struggle to accept a glowing light within us and embrace the actual darkness to be a fading hero. Maybe I should go for invisible hero. I mean 'cos it's a dark world no can see you. People only see light when there's so much darkness. No one sees regular darkness.

The past week has been extremely brutal. From the top to the bottom. Every member of the society or my society had been affected by a sudden unexpected trauma. During these times, our righteousness must be at the forefront because not only would one wrestler against emotional trauma but the possibility of a relapse. Don't Wait Till You Get Stuck

We are humans. Yes we are! That's the excuse we give ourselves when we do the worse things. When we kill our soul and even fellow humans. It's still the excuse of WE ARE HUMANS. Well I'm here to say it's possible to avoid some mistakes. Rather that subject your soul to vanity and damaging pleasure, you can look on to building your heart for value. I'll also say rather than kill or inflict pain on a fellow human, we can stay civil and live right. Asking the right questions before taking an action. So you won't tell your spouse to start porn so that you can ginger the swagger in the bedroom. Then in few months, you both become victims of the new drug. So you won't mindlessly take a person's life by your actions. So you won't damage your soul for dopamine that needs to be constantly fed. Don't Wait Till You Get Stuck. Don't Wait Till There's a Protest before you do the right thing. Don't Wait Till You Can't Control Anything before you take a different action. Stopping waiting till you get stuck before you get yourself freedom.

Training Yourself Intentionally

Pay attention to training yourself in all godliness. Yeah yeah I know that's like so uneasy. But yeah, if you really want something good to build up, sacrifices must be made. Your heart must be willing to make firm choices to stay clean and hope for nothing else order that clean.

The King's Meat Part Two - The Idol of Adventure. 

Have you ever drenched yourself in the possibility of more? 
Does life seem so boring and depressing sometimes that you just want to see newness?

Hmmmm

At some point, our desire to see more and feel more and experience the new make us almost say life is not worth living. 

We forget that to grab and own that newness never ends at one stop. 

We keep going until we drown. We drown so so deep we almost can't wake. 

At this point, our mundane imaginations becomes the god. We follow it like a wet dog until we grab the next bone.

Few days ago, I did something and it dawned on me that to be free or successful in anything, you can't be part of a pack. You have to distinguish yourself. Distinguishing yourself might be hard and difficult to work with, but the Bible says we have all grace through faith to do all kinds of wondrous things. The King's Meat is a series. This episode is just for an intro. And guess what! We are moving to Season Three. Yeah yeah...I'm super happy. All shades goosebumps. It's gonna be great...and it's time to eat vegetables than the King's Meat. Love yaaas...Always and forever.

With the aid of psychologists and emotional experts, we have been able to answer pressing matters related to addiction. However, I realized that there’s so much to grasp from the bank of knowledge…lol. Okay another gibberish.

No matter what you have done or said or thought, there is no Condemnation for those in Christ Jesus Okay? You're a masterpiece. It's not about You and what you've done, it's about what God thinks. And God's thoughts towards you, are GOOD and not evil. He loves You Big just like I do. You're awesome and important. Your don't yourself, it only reduces you.

Your Self Development Is Essential

At some point in life, you realize that you have the potential to be BETTER than you are right now. You know within yourself that the life you've chosen can be upgraded and built to something much more substantial. It's not magic and it's not rocket science. Guilt is major issue for most people. Recovered addicts seem more induced in this pattern. A reason like not forgiving oneself can be considered significant in explaining one's guilty feeling. However, like Dr. Doreen said stop wallowing in your guilt. I understand that it's really hard and almost impossible but you can do this. We can do this, trust me!
