Why Are We Still Talking About This?

Seeing as we’ve been at this for a minute, we thought it appropriate to save the most important question for last. Why are these “art” conversations even important? The discussion around what art is, what it means and how it shapes the world goes beyond artists, creators and even art consumers. The sole existence of man-made beauty or of  wonderfully tailored brokenness points to a greatness in humanity everyone should recognize. Artist or not, we believe this is vital. And whatever answers or lack thereof are sprung out of these past episodes, this series will have been valuable to whoever; adding a thread to the tapestry of our worldview, as it may.

Why Is It Plagiarism?

As any learning person can guarantee, it is easy to be drawn by awe and inspiration out of the work of third parties. That inspiration however is very often used to camouflage intelectual and artistic plagiarism. In a day and age where there are literally no new wheels to be invented, how does one move away from mimicking the one’s they’re inspired by? Where does inspiration become plagiarism and what convictions can keep us from that mistake?

Why We Don’t Separate Art from Artist

This conversation is not groundbreaking and barely even new, but as artists we felt the desire to bring it to light not just from cancel-hungry consumers but from artists themselves who find these answers ever changing. If my art is not me, then surely separation is established. But if my art can be itself without me, what imprint of mine will live? This separation is a spectrum, yet our perspective of it is vital, nonetheless.

Why Don’t We Respect Commercialized Art?

It seems to be somewhat of an agreement among people who entitle themselves artists that a lot of what is sold as art isn’t really so. Why is that? What makes art art? Where is its value and how should it be retained? Granted, it’s impossible to objectively answer these questions, but we did come to important conclusions regarding artistry and how to potentially profit off of it without draining it of its truth.

Why We Love Art... And Things

This episode brings a completely new life to the season, if not the podcast entirely. The concept of “art” is something we wholeheartedly love. Though we don’t intend to define and box in what art in its entirety, we have a lot to say about what makes art art, what makes it feel, what gives it meaning and how so clearly passionate we are about it. There is no clear answer as to why we love at so much, but this should give you some insight into it.

Why Are We Not Feminists?

Spoiler alert: we barely gave the real answer to this question.  Instead we discussed our views on equality, on extremism, our quips with alleged “anti-feminists” and delved back into toxic masculinity and whether its counterpart exists as a real societal phenomenon. We’re definitely biased, but it’s a great conversation to tune into. Answers or not, as you’ll come to find, this topic remains ever thought-provoking and we hope we can all discuss it open-mindedly.

Why Are We Not Talking About Accountability?

Though the term “accountability” is very commonly brought up, we still believe that its concept is relatively ignored. Likely because not addressing accountability gives us an illusion of having eluded it. Or maybe because there’s a lot that needs to be addressed before accountability in itself is possible and efficient. Whatever the answer(s) may be, the question in itself is worth an episode, especially since it’ll yield a lot more questions and answers to both us and our lovely audience!

Why are Gender Roles Even A Thing?

In today’s day and age, we see an implied expectation of how people are supposed to dress, express themselves, behave, what career they should choose, what ambitions to have all based upon their gender, and in typical Katt and Eli fashion we ask ourselves why that is. Beyond the divinely established roles in marriage, why do we allow society to establish “acceptable” roles to men and women? And how far should we push to deconstruct those?

Why Should I Have to Care About Modesty?

Let's kick off with a big question. What even is this modesty thing? From people who don't fit the "modest status quo" a series of questions on how important this important value is. And it is! But why is it? What makes the covering of our bodies so defining to how we live life? Is a body more of a temple because it's hidden behind cloths? Is it less precious if adorned to celebrate its beauty? Join this conversation, and let us know what your thoughts are!

Why You Should Be Very Intentional

Today we discuss cycles. Beginnings and Endings. The natural cyclical nature of all things alive. It does get annoying when we’re thrown into it with no sense of control, but even now, as control was ours, we realised that maybe that’s not too bad of a disposition. Things start and then they end. Things end to start again. As for what limited power we have, we submit our podcast to this cyclical nature of life because we want it to live and grow as we do, and for everything about it to be and remain purposeful and intentional.

Why Do We Care About Legacies?

"Your sole existence can make a mark in someone else's life so just living creates a sort of legacy." If you consider your legacy at its most basic as whatever you leave behind, it'll be hard to disregard it even if you're not necessarily striving for it. Today's conversation is around the "but what then?" It is likely that legacy will only mean as much as your purpose for life, and though only you can decide how much weight that will carry, we have a lot of questions to help you get there!

Why Perfection

The conversation on this episode revolved around the incessant quest for perfection we all seem to have. Regardless of what you call it, we all seek and crave a utopic life that we might not be able to find in our lifetimes. We concluded that this understanding is relative.
