A MEDICAL DOCTOR, KUNLE ASHIMI, HAS DECRIED THE POOR WORKING CONDITION OF MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS IN THE COUNTRY, CALLING FOR A REFORM IN THE HEALTH SECTOR.

HE DISCLOSED THIS TODAY WHEN HE FEATURED ON SPLASH FM’S CURRENT AFFAIRS, PROGRAM, PANORAMA.

DOCTOR ASHIMI, NOTED THAT A LARGE PERCENTAGE OF HEALTH PRACTITIONERS LEAVE THE COUNTRY, BECAUSE THE WORKING SITUATION IS NOT FAVORABLE TO THE THEM.


HE EXPLAINED THAT THERE MUST BE A DELIBERATE ATTEMPT TO DEVELOP THE COUNTRY, ADDING THAT, EMPLOYMENT IN NIGERIA SHOULD BE BASED ON MERIT AND NOT FAVOURITISM, FOR THE COUNTRY TO MAKE PROGRESS.


ANOTHER ANALYST ON THE PROGRAM, MR OLORUNTOBA IFALADE, NOTED THAT NIGERIA’S EDUCATION SYSTEM IS OUTDATED, EMPHASIZING THE NEED FOR THE UPGRADE OF ITS CURRICULUM AS IT IS THE FOUNDATION FOR NATION BUILDING.

THE ANALYSTS URGED STAKEHOLDERS IN THE SECTOR TO IMPROVE IN ALL FACETS, SO AS TO GIVE THE STUDENTS A COMPETITIVE HEDGE OVER THEIR COUNTERPARTS IN OTHER COUNTRIES.
